As far as I know one isn't allowed to sit low because it's a sign of mourning (shiva week, and 9av we sit low) I really want to buy 2 of these for adults and kids to lounge on.
is it ok?

Did you mean to include a picture or a link?

I can't open your link because it goes straight to the App Store. However, as far as I know, there's no restriction on sitting low "like Shiva" when you're not in the mourning

The link doesn't seem to take you into the product. Basically an adult sized bean bag in the shape of a chair.

My mother always says that we aren't supposed/allowed to sit low unless it's 9 av or obviously sitting shiva.
Is this a thing?!

It's a thing - but not a halacha. Maybe minhag, maybe just "sensitivity". Some won't allow walking around without shoes for the same reason. Depends on your family/upbringing/minhag.
