The Apple turnover

Apple cinnamon sugar and drizzle too
Temptation, invitation, take a bite or two
She winks at me, I look the other way
She emits her scent, oh I dare not stray

Hustling, bustling, cooking dinner for six
She enters my mind and plays all those tricks
“I don’t have so many calories, or just have only one”
But With one bite of her, my diet is done

So I chop, peel, grate, and stir
But simply cannot get thoughts away from her
“You lost so nicely so far” she beckons
“One of me won’t hurt “ she reckons

Preheat to 350, set timer for thirty
Spray the windex, wipe, table no longer dirty
Placemats out, cutlery displayed
As the sun starts setting, daylight fades

There she still sits, calmly mockingly
On her lucite bed, whole- shockingly
Kids troop in, mud tracking the floors
Time for her, I’ve got no more

Dinner’s over, baths, and showers
But she incredibly still yields her powers
“Im your favorite treat” she transmits repeatedly
But this mama needs her clothes to fit, you see

Table, chairs, sprayed and wiped
Counters cleared, and I have not yet lost the fight
My hand reaches out, grabs her in one swipe
And with one final battle move for the night
Before I tie the trash bag so tight
I gingerly drop her ever so polite
She’s whole and not even missing one bite
Into the garbage and out of site
Can I get an applause? Alright?!
