I'm confused - maybe someone on here can clear this up for me...
I know that Lag Ba'Omer is a break for the sefira rules (not counting those of us who end sefira then). I always thought that the sefira rules were in place for Lag Ba'Omer night, and that in the morning you could listen to music.
However...plenty of groups run bonfires at night (which I've been told have music) - so clearly I am missing something...
Are there different minhagim? Does it matter if you are taking a one day break from sefira or ending sefira?
Can someone explain?

We have weddings and bon fires both nights.
We hold that we're allowed to hear music/make a wedding the second night if the wedding/bonfire started when it was still lag ba'omer day.

As far as I know that there can only be music on the first night in meron.
Other places that do it are wrong

The minhag of aveilus in sefira is not set in stone. It's a late practice, and many are lenient in observing it. (Some groups suddenly become very strict when it comes to Yom Ha'atzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim, because, you know, Zionists.)

OMG they hold that one can listen to music on Yom haatzmaut? Lol
It’s not that some group suddenly become very strict
It’s that some groups suddenly become very permissive, with the halachas of Sefira.
