How much should groceries cost for a family of 6?

We eat Chalav Israel and fresh fruits and vegetables. Other than that nothing fancy but I spent about 250 a week at least. My kids are 6,5,3 years, and 9 months. How much do you spend on groceries?

I just did grocery shopping for the week- groceries only, no fruits/vegetables or meat, and it came to $200.
Mine are 15-6

Our family is much larger and we spend closer to 700$ a week it is crazy and we are not buying any fancy foods or meats.

we dont eat meat every night.
I spend maybe 20$ a week on meat

Just speculating but you probably do one stop shopping, oh those cookies look good type.
If saving money is important you learn to look for sales, buy in bulk from costco, learn which stores have cheaper whatever and make 2 or 3 runs a week.

We are family of 8
Older Kids get lunch in school
$300-400. No ready made or takeout food. Lots of fruit and veggies. Chicken. Salmon for Shabbos.
3 stores weekly:
cheapest for chicken and salmon.
One with best sales - get what’s on list from sale items only
Rest of items shop at store that typically has best everyday prices.

Once a month Costco

We spend over 300 a week and have 2 kids TMI

My husband is expensive to feed because he works out and eats healthy so he needs alot of protein and veggies. And my kids aren't babies.

My point is if you're shopping within a budget you learn to make it work by making multiple stops, buying on sale, cooking x instead of y if x is on sale this week etc. Very different from deciding what you want then going out and getting it.

How do you spend so little? My kids are ahed baby through 10. My kids are pretty picky and I don't eat everything. I spend anywhere between 2:50 and 500 a week. This does not include my Costco shopping.
I do need to make lunch and snack for myself, DH, and three kids.

Depends how much your kids eat and what they eat. Our grocery bill is going up because my kids finally started eating protein and veggies TMI

it was a lot cheaper when they just ate cereal and pasta.

We spend between 150-200 a week at Walmart, including groceries (lots of produce) and paper goods. That's for three meals a day for a family of six. And another 50- 80 a week at a kosher supermarket for dairy (minimal) and meat/ chicken and a few random things.

I am shocked by all these responses! We’re a family of 6 and I’m spending a minimum of 600 a week on all groceries. And I’ve checked in with friends with the same family sizes and they’re spending the same.
