Shavuos is just 2 days yet it cost me a lot more then I have to spend.

Every year I say this year will be different, I will not just spend and spend.
This year I did not go shopping yet so I am looking for advise on how to keep cost down.

The 2 night meals and the second day meal is meat
The first day is a barbecue
The breakfast and Nelus Hchag(the supper on the second day)is dairy

I always over buy and end up buying very expensive meats and cheeses, I know that I can make things with cheaper stuff but right now I'm not sure how. What cheaper meats or cheeses can be used that are just as good?

No idea what your budget is. What type of things do you like to make? What is affordable near where you live?for BBQ - boneless chicken thighs and London broil are great. Can you stick to grated mozzarella or cheddar for your cheesy dishes? Not every dish has to be meat or dairy- pareve is often cheaper

Plan your menu in advance and stick to it.
Buy less expensive cuts of meat
Know how many people you are and buy the appropriate amount (you don’t need a 6lb brisket for 4 people.)

No one can advise you because you haven’t said what you are buying or cooking.

In theory there are always less expensive food choices and you can make them special by delicious recipes or recipes that stretch the more expensive ingredients.

If yuu are serious about a budget you decide on the budget and shop with cash so you have no way to be tempted by impulse purchases

Chuck eye roast - the secret for it to be tender is to use an acid in the cooking sauce and slow and low

Mozat is also good it’s mini meat medallions cut from beef shank. Low and slow is the secret
Season meat agressively
Fill a pyrex with lots of onions nestle the meat slices
Add other veggies if you like carrot, celery, mushrooms
Add 1/4 cup of water
Foil very very tightly
Bake 350, 40 minutes per lb

A good meat stew could be made economically

There are a lot of ground beef recipes that are lekavod YT. You can use ground mix

There’s also chicken and Turkey options

Use fillers and veggies to stretch the meal
Rice
Potatoes
Couscous
Beans
Lots of veggies - choose cheaper ones

Soup is also filling - cold soup are refreshing

Salads could be economical if you check your own veggies

Repurpose food For example if you make a roast you can shred it for pulled beef tacos or pizza

Second day dinner is not something I ever prepare for. Leftover chalah, veggies & Dips, hard boiled eggs, leftovers etc.

It depends so much on how many people you are & what you usually buy. I buy exact amounts of the meat- fish- cheese- & generous amounts of cheap foods like chalah & sides.
