Just like sweeping statements like "Sefardim do this" can not be made because no, all sefardim do not do this (some do), one can also not simply state Israelis do this. SOME Israelis do this, not all. Some sefardic communities do this widely, some do not do it at all. Same with Israelis.

I think it’s obvious she means some have this culture and not every single family from every single Israeli community.
I’m sefardi. The only place I’ve ever heard of it is in Israel. No of course not all Israelis! But it’s definitely not done within the sefardi communities I’ve heard of. I only learned about this once I had moved to Israel.
Yes, I’m sure there are sefardim out there that do this and plenty plenty Israelis that don’t, but I think it’s massively obvious what this poster means.
