Someone I know running a daycare is desperately looking for staff.
I feel like if I put the work into it I can fill up her staff.
Is it fair to ask for a discount for my child that I will be sending there in exchange for helping her find staff?

It sounds like it could be a fair deal, but only if you're prepared to vouch personally for anyone you find, and take the fall if it doesn't work out.

Definitely fair. Ask if she will give $X off for any lead that brings to a hire.
Disagree that any fallout is your problem.

There's a difference between making the offer, and letting her decide if she's interested; and trying to charge her (after the fact)
Since the first is what you're considering, sure, put it out there. She'll either say yes, or no.
