And do you add anything else? Lately my laundry had not been smelling as fresh as it used to and I'm thinking that maybe I should change my detergent. Thanks!

7th generation free and clear. 2nd choice anything else that's "free and clear". Hate when laundry comes out wreaking of soap smell.

Same! I use All free & clear and I can never go back to a smell.

(Also helped my son get clear of eczema Bh)

you could add vinegar to each load and borax detergent and your machine will clean itself from any grime or fungus.

Kirkland Ultra Clean. I love the scent and it does a good job on stains although I do usually add a scoop of oxi powder.

Wash clothes inside out! It saves the outer surface it gets less agitated.
Be very strict with colour separation. Whites only with whites.
I use gel detergent without bleach Ingredients for everything coloured.
For synthetics make sure to wash in correct temperature.
Don't put clothes in the dryer!! Hang them inside out and not in the sun.
No intense spin cycles

Which detergent do you use? I once heard that arm n hammer can cause that. I put a scoop of oxi or another stain soaker into the machine and soak my white load prior to washing.
