I’m with you. I’m crazy over the produce here. Like I said, much less artificial additives.

British berries are amazing. European produce on a whole is very tasty compared to the produce of America and even Israel.

this is so reassuring. my kids like dairy and I always thought it wasn't so good for them hormone- wise.

does anyone know about belgium? I buy the shefa yogurt from antwerp and would love to know about their standards...

In Europe, it is illegal to give dairy cows hormones. All dairy products from cows from the EU are therefore hormone free.

Shefa products are excellent quality.

English and Belgian yoghurts which are sold in Uk are so much more natural tasting compared to the Israeli yoghurts I had when I lived there, the kosher dairies in Europe are all quite small and less commercial than the ones in Israel.
In fact I think that Shefa have their own small dairy farm when they get their milk.

I wonder if the shefa milk is better quality than the uk milk which sells a mix from a few farms - some grass fed and some grain fed.

however if you compare the belgian herczl bbutter to chevinton the chevington is much more yellow.

The produce in Israel may be less perfect but it tastes way better.
The produce in UK looks much nicer but apart from the apples, tastes much more bland.

American cheese tastes better because it has artificial flavor added. Any real cheese connoisseur will tell you that the UK cheese tastes a million times better.

American cheese has artificial flavour? Surprised
And that's legal?

As long as the ingredients are all listed, the FDA basically lets them do whatever, in the US.
And there are a lot of things that aren't really regulated (like baby formula) and there's crazy info about it.

In the US produce is grown for looks not taste.

A lot of produce is left to rot in the field because of the looks.

That is an interesting question, what country has the healthiest kids? And why are they so healthy?

My theory is yes because of the different approaches to medical care. There is a much more hands off approach largely because of socialist medicine being overwhelmed. Sounds counter-intuitive but here they do not dispense medicine and antibiotics like water which I believe leads to better immunity.

again, this is my theorizing based on my observations having lived in both countries.

Fresh produce including fruit, veg and dairy in Europe and uk is far superior quality and taste than in USA or Israel, I’ve tasted from all of those places.

I agree.

I live in Israel now and haven't gotten used to the produce here.
Meanwhile, when I've mentioned it on this forum, all the Americans in Israel said that it's so much better than there, they can't understand me.
But, I'm used to the UK where everything is on a much higher quality. And cheaper. Way cheaper.

does good tasting produce usually mean its better quality? I don't mean better tasting cheese that you can add flavouring, I mean a completely natural product lets say a good tasting avocado vs not good tasting?

You can have good artificial tasting and good quality tasting.

You can often tell when it's an artificial taste. For example, they sell here in osher ad pink lady apples imported from the US, all bright right perfect and shiny, and I find them so sickly sweet and artificial. You can tell they aren't the real deal.

Even with pink lady there's naturally sweet (which I like) and then there's sickly sweet. Some seem to be artificially boosted. Not sure what they do exactly.

is it truly wild caught? are the tins safe?

I try to include it in my diet but want to know that my body is really benefiting...

I tried reaching out to the company but they don't answer me...
