I don’t have any idea if this is “normal” so please be nice bec this is an honest question and we are good parents. DS age 11 is very Into sports and he has a whole collection of baseball cards. His personality can be described as intense and my husband and I are unsure when it goes from healthy to obsessive with regards to his collection. He loves to chazer the cards. Takes them in and out and looks at the back. Is constantly rearranging them. Goes to a neighbor two grades younger practically daily to trade cards and just sit and talk about baseball. He even paid him $10 for a few cards he wanted (lucky neighbor!).Yes he plays baseball too and was just in a sports league. But he is constantly asking if the Yankees won and if he can check the score. When he is given screen time he watches old highlights. He just talks baseball all day.
Is this typical behavior?

Yes. As long as he is functioning normally in the rest of life too.
