I hope people ask their own LOR before doing this, because the instagram account could be their hishtadlus. It's all in how one instagrams... there are companies who limit their instagram accounts to ONLY selling the item, and there are many many more who made themselves into "influincers" and sell themselves in addition to their product. I can think of a few people off the top of my head who only sell their item, and many more who sell their item but have grown their page into the tens of thousands because they comment on every single thing out there... they are not the same kind of page.

This was was one of many things that turned me off of IG. You go to look at a local stores goods and end up getting sucked into something totally different.

Instagram is much more then an advertising board. Its social media. A website is perfect for advertising.

Call me cynical but when social media becomes too much of your business there is a lot of incentive to not be honest. To use filters, to show your good in the most favorable way. I used to think you have to see the sheital machers IG before you buy now I am not so sure. With makeup I think its totally not reliable. Clothing I have had mixed experiences especially when its direct to consumer and you cant try stuff on.

I’m not sure why you think this is the sole narrative. The asifa I listened to didn’t do any shaming. There are many reasons why someone may choose to delete social media.
As for marketing, years ago I was able to successfully launch my small business through Instagram, without spending a penny. More recently (probably since the algorithm change), I realized that it’s almost impossible to get results unless you package yourself as part of the product. Not everyone is interested in putting their lives out there like that.
Other obvious reasons why one may delete SM is because it can be a time-waster, or they find they’re getting sucked into toxicity. There’s nothing about control unless you mean the control that META is gaining over the average Joe.

I’m just curious how many of these companies will still use instagrammers to post their products even if they themselves are not on there.
That’ll kinda defeat the purpose no? Like all my friends who ask me to order them stuff on Amazon and old navy because they don’t have Internet.
