I need ideas of where to go with my family.

I would love to fly somewhere but only if I could find cheap tickets.

Any ideas?

Summer is an expensive busy travel season. If you want to go somewhere cheap it's really best to go off season. We are in Israel also have lots of different options than those in america. But we went to Budapest in February and we got $60 round trip and then had to pay $50 each way for luggage but is a family of six we were able to share two suitcases so it was not too crazy. What we do is put in any destination into Skyscanner and then it gives us different possibilities. Certain days are cheaper than others. We end up staying for a whole week because it was almost half the price for those days and if we had left on different days. Yes we had to pay more for the Airbnb but it still came out cheaper than had the tickets been double the price. We really enjoy traveling although in Israeli airport is so crazy that they were thinking about going somewhere last week and decided to make a local trip instead. But going to pick season does not seem to be cheap. Even going somewhere in Europe that were 60 dollars in winter is now hundreds of dollars now for a ticket..

Nowhere cheap. Flights this summer are a fortune, and especially at the (relative) last minute. Maybe give us more info about your family size and ages, budget, and what you're looking to do, and we can give you some realistic options.

I would be going with 5 kids. Would love to go somewhere 5-6 hour flight range...

Budget wise - Is it possible to find something in the $100/ticket range?

Am I even being reasonable?

No. That is not realistic cost for flight in 2022.

You are better off driving somewhere. Even with a 5 hour flight, you have to add in at least an extra 3 hours with check in time, waiting for luggage, waiting for rental car, etc. So, if you are willing to travel 8 hours, you have a lot of options if you are driving from NJ. Can go north, south, west.

ETA: rental car prices have gone up, quite a lot. You'd have to factor that in to the cost, it's not just the airplane tickets.

There's an Allegiant flight from Newark to Savannah GA, leaving Monday morning July 25, coming back Friday morning July 29, for $107 round trip. Not the best time of year to be in Savannah, but you can't be too picky with your proposed budget.

Myrtle beach, SC - around a 10 hour drive from NJ, beautiful beaches

Busch Gardens in Virginia is also a great option - around 8 hours

Check out Frontier Airlines. They fly out of Trenton. It's a tiny airport. They often have sales for crazy cheap ($22 or $44 a way) but it only includes a personal item and you have to pay for luggage.
