I used to be an avid reader. I have since cut out most secular books just because there’s usually a side plot that’s totally inappropriate. I’ve tried a couple of the Jewish novels, but let’s just be honest, they do not compare. The plot and writing style is usually not my thing. Lately I’ve just been craving that feeling of being lost in a good book!
Anyone have good recommendations?

My all time favorite. Written so well.

OP, what genres are you into? Typically, I find the ones written by women involve a shidduch of some sort (aka romance)[and if not, family/friend drama] and the ones by men are "espionage"ish... Then there are some very spiritual authors (Meir Uri Gottesman comes to mind) and others based on true stories (such as Miracle Ride)...

Another vote for Sun Inside Rain. I mustve read it 4 times already and still cry through the same parts. Honestly I have never had another book come close to Sun Inside Rain. I wish the author would write another one.

Other books I enjoy:
All Leah Gebber's books I believe she has 4 out already with my favorite being Map the Starlight
Etka Gittel Schwartz: Full Harvest
For a lighter read: Dov Haller's Black and White
For more of the 'typical' divorce shalom bayis etc drama though very well written is Riva Pomerantz

Sun Inside Rain - M. Bassara
Short Changed - Etka Gittel Schwartz
All Leah Gebber's books
Freefall - Miriam Zakon
The Last Slave - Y. Kormonick (something like that)

These are the best books I could think of off the top of my head...
