Grapes cut into small clusters and drinks and cups strategically placed around the table. Napkins readily available for spills.
Worst is wanting for a drink and waiting to make eye contact with someone near water to avoid interrupting speaker.

Cookies are delicious!!!!!! They'll love it. They're just probably used to more than cookies. As in, better variety of cheaper things than one nicer thing.

Also... You can buy an assortment of cookies. Plus as someone in my highschool once said, (im paraphrasing) cookies are better than cake bc even if you have a few cookies, it still feels like you're eating fewer calories than a piece of cake
