I have several children that take 2 to 3 snack bags a day and with prices these days so high the cost is outrageous! What do your kids take to school/camp? Is it much more cost effective to buy big bags and split it up? Any other suggestions?

It is waaaay cheaper to pack your own snack bags. I fill up ziploc bags on Sunday for the week. It actually just takes a few minutes.

Some things I'll splurge and buy in bulk from Costco.

I try to bake cookies and cupcakes because that is really most cost effective.
When I don't have time to bake, I buy whatever is on sale in my local supermarket that week.
Another suggestion is to buy a big bag of kernels and make popcorn.
My kids take 2 snacks on a full day and 1 snack on a half day (like Friday/sunday)

Do you find that the food gets smashed when you put it in ziplocks?

No, not at all. I make a bunch of ziplocks and keep them in a snack bin.
I guess of youre packing something more delicate you can make sure you have some air in the bag but I cant think what kind of snack would need that

I do this too when I have time, but the whole point of individual bags for me is time saving. I wish I could do this every week!

Yeah, same. I fill up the bags, keep them in our snack bin. They never get smushed even with a water bottle also in the lunch bag.

We pay way too much for air.
If the snack bag would be a full portion, I wouldn’t care that much, but seriously, 7 chips in the bag?

My kids schools give them snack bags at one recess so I let them take one snack bag from home for the second recess. I hope they’re not the only kids in their class who only bring one...
And I of course let them take fruit/vegetables if they want

Yes and no.
I find snack portions get way bigger when kids fill up their ziplocks.
I also find that whereas my kids know snack bags are for school only - big size bags get dipped into while they're home too.
And often they dip in late at night and don't seal the big bag leaving everything stale for the morning.
So it's only cheaper if you maintain some kind of control over it all. I've lost the will.
Besides, I started making them snack on fruits and veggies so problem solved.
