My dd was a few months ago by a local day camp. She has quite a few preschoolers and the day camp expects her to do art activities with them. She has paper, crayons, glue and string but her preschoolers don't use scissors yet. The camp will not give her anything else. Any suggestions?
(Next year she will insist on more craft supplies.)

How old are the campers? Twos, threes, or fours are very different in what they can handle.

Three-year-olds. They are not able to manipulate scissors yet.

My sister had this one year, it was pretty bad for the first week or so.
Then she asked the head to give her ideas on what to do the art supplies improved after that.
Your daughter can also cut out stuff for them to do like a pinwheel, fan,kite,hat- Does she have a stapler?

If she can add any materials (watercolor paint, beads, tape) it will be easier to do more creative projects, but here are some things she can do with just those materials:
- collages - rip paper into smaller pieces, glue onto a larger paper (or if SHE can use scissors, cut a larger paper into a shape)
- crayon rubbings (put coins or leaves onto paper and rub with a peeled crayon to reveal the shape)
- have them go on a nature walk and bring back flowers, leaves, branches and tell the kids to draw them - very cute to see what they come up with!
- string paths - draw a random twisting line of glue on a paper, and put string down on the glue following the path
- glue resist - first finger paint on the paper using just glue. After it dries, color lightly on the paper with the crayons. The glue should create a resist effect.
- trace objects in the room - cars, mentchies, or outdoor finds

She can write/draw with white crayon on the white paper and have the kids color with colorful crayons to reveal the designs
