My 2.5 year old is CONSTANTLY putting his hands in his pants. In the back (rarely in the front). Besides for looking socially off it’s gross… if he has a dirty diaper you can imagine what happens. He isn’t fully toilet trained yet. This has been happening for months but has recently gotten worse.
I think he does it absentmindedly, and when we remind him he’s fine with it until he forgets.
What can I do?
Also practically- I don’t want to put on those snap undershirts (to prevent his hands from going in) bc it’s so hot and I don’t want to put another layer on him.

Can you do those snap shirts as the only shirt? I know it's more of a 'babyish' look than you might want at this age but it might be worth it for this phase.

It's very normal at that age. I kept my toddler in the snap undershirts till he was fully trained.

I haven’t seen such a thing for his size… he’s pretty much a 3 T for most things.
Maybe it does exist though

Gerber onsies run tiny, but next has 3T
I don’t think kids are bothered by the “heat of another layer”. My kid’s all wear onsies till they’re toilet trained and no one ever complained.
Through Israeli heat waves and Lakewood heat and humidity...
