the kippah is hand-knit and it's light colored, and has some dots that are brown rust stains from the clip. how would you suggest this be cleaned?

First you need to remove the rust stains. DO NOT USE BLEACH which will set the rust. Buy a commercial rust-stain removing laundry product and follow the directions. Then wash by hand with soap and lukewarm water, scrub if necessary with a nail brush or toothbrush, rinse well and reshape on a wig form, small balloon or upended cereal bowl.
