I’m wondering about my 10 year old son… he doesn’t have so many pairs of pants and it’s so hot outside. He gets very dirty..

If he's getting his clothing mamash dirty to the point where it's unwearable then yes, I would say you could wash it. He shouldn't be wearing disgusting clothing

Underwear we have enough of and if we didn’t we would have prepared and bought enough to last but real clothing like pants for boys, shirts… costs a lot and we don’t have enough for 9 days.

I do laundry twice a week throughout the year. I already need to do a wash. Girls tights they went through so many since Fri. Undergarments little kids had to change a few times…my kids have clothes for 4 days. So although I did laundry Thurs afternoon some already need for tomorrow morning.

I once heard that for adults its rather to buy new even during the 9 days, than to wash. for children its okay to wash when needed or if made wet etc

My rav said there isn't really an age cutoff (aside from bar/bas mitzvah). It is appropriate to limit past the age of 9 or so if it can be done, but it's not a hard and fast rule. If the child is just a messy kid and needs their clothes washed, then you wash their clothes, as long as they're under bar/bas mitzvah.

I have them alternate between school pants and polo shirts which they usually don’t wear to camp and they’re first choice tiros and t shirts. If they didn’t get dirty they wear things a second time and if they run out of all of that I’ll wash but it’s usually enough to make it through.
