Were moving from boro park and after applying to many many girl schools in lkwd , and having ppl call for us and the vaad ... we finally got a yes from a school that's not out type parent body wise. We applied a little later on after being rejected from many schools and seeing the situation . We are chassidish lite (heimish) and the school is very litvish. I don't think I have a choice at this point and my dh says we must send there he's done with the schools. Will my daughter feel different then her peers if we send there ? Or will they be nice and accepting ? Or is this not a big deal ? I don't know what to do. My dh refuses to push for the other schools since we got a yes now. They're giving us a week to reply if we're sending. If I say no and we don't get in anywhere then I'll be stuck . What do I do ?

Are you new to Imamother? I don't even live in Lakewood and know wherever you get in you go. Good luck!

If you are chassidish lite chances are your daughter will fit in fine in a litvish school. There are probably even a handful of other chassidish lite families already sending there.

There are many girls litvish schools here in Lakewood that have a few chassidish lite families
Even if it’s not the case in this particular school, I would imagine it would be fine. If it was a boy I would say no bec they would look and dress diff and with peyos… but chassidish lite girls look the same as litvish girls

They were either too full or just not giving us an interview. And one school we did have an interview by never got back to us even after calling and having ppl call for us they said they are still not sure and the class is really full etc. They were full of excuses.
She's coming from bybp . So the havara and the way they learn is the same. I was more concerned about the crowd and will girls make fun if they find out she's "chassidish" . I want her to fit in.

there is no middle of the rd school here like bybp. I spoke to somoene that sounds lije your type and sent to Bnos Brocha. Her daughter gets some comments but luckily she's confident enough to move on....

I don't think my daughter would be so confident to shrug it off. It may affect her if the girls are teasing her. That's my concern . On the other hand I don't know if I have another option.

My daughter is one of maybe five students in a school whose fathers wear shtreimlech. We actually sent there by choice because it’s a great school. I don’t see how much being in a chassidish school matters for a girl. I can understand a boy with curly payis feeling different but the girls all look the same.

You got a yes. Take it.
You did your hishtadlus and more. This is where your child needs to be now.
We don’t see the big picture until much later.
Been there, done it and learned many important lessons over the years.

We may be in the same school. My daughter is in a great school and we are one of the very few chasidish families there. We wanted this. I went to a bais yaakov and wanted the same for her. Not a specific heimish / chasidish…..She’s no different from her friends minus her fathers levush on shabbos and havara. We couldn’t be happier. If your family values line up with the parent body and you like the school then I don’t think chasidish vs not should stop you.

My daughters are in Bais faiga and if they have some girls leaning towards Chassidish they don’t make much of it. One or two time I have heard comments about girls being called shaindy in school and sheiindee at home. Or brother has payis. But never in a derogatory way.
