Go to Walmart/shop riteā€¦ first -so you deal with less of a crowd

Bring food, because eateries are insanely mobbed

Go to a park.

Any attraction is full with long lines.

Everything is packed. Find a park or lake and spend the day there. Bring meat and grill for supper. I would even avoid Walmart and ShopRite and bring up with me. Good luck!

Yep. We found a state park that has lots of run around space, picnic tables, some fun rocks to climb on, a pond, a playground equipment area, and has a small beachy section that we normally won't touch but was amazing for the kids to play at one year when visiting day was in the low 70's.

Town of Thompson Town Park
179 Town Park Rd, Monticello, NY 12701

This park is great to spend the day!
Gorgeous grounds, lake/creek - you can go in for a dip!
Lots of picnic tables and space to grill

We love spending the day and then grilling for supper there

When was the last time you were there?
A couple of years ago we discovered that the stream is now on private, not town, property and the owner is quite aggressive about tresspassing. Unless there is a different creek you know about or something changed?

It is still a nice park with picnic tables, playground, and general nature.

I second the motion to just find a nice park in whatever area of the country you're in and bring your own food. Portable/disposable grills are amazing.

Kelder's Farm in Kerhonkson has picking - lots of different things depending on timing, you should check with them before going to see what's ripe. Have not been there this year or last year so I don't know how it is now. I used to go every year and some times were much better than others. I do know they had some inflation in the pricing but depending how many people you are could still be worthwhile because they have things like bouncing and mini golf in addition to picking. There were groupons at some point, not sure if they still do.

We spent a few visiting days at Lake Superior State Park. There is a lake with boating, guarded swimming and a small playground.

We were there a couple of weeks ago
The park is really big so maybe you're referring to a specific part of the creek?
I know there is definitely a creek open to the public
