At your simcha? Were you expecting more people? Getting a lot of negative responses and I’m really disappointed.

Bar Mitzva?
We only invited men besides very immediate family so there were 8 women. A few friends came past dessert time.

Depends on dates. Is it during vacation now until school starts. Families come and go and might not settle down at home until school starts. I would say it's nice they are being honest and saying no now, instead of saying yes and not showing up. ( happens alot).
