When do you decide it’s time to switch?

When either the baby is waking up from banging against the sides or they aren't safe in the bassinet any more or they don't have space to stretch out

I asked because my baby’s still very young. However, I find her sometimes with her head almost smashed against a side. She’s not waking up from it, so I guess it’s not uncomfortable

Around 4 months my kids outgrew the bassinet. Either when they get to big or start rolling - whichever comes first.

We moved oldest DD to the crib (in spare bedroom) the 2nd night home from the hospital.

This was because in our bedroom, every time she made the slightest sniffle, we were both up and at her side. We slept better with her in the crib.

At 2.5 months (she was sleeping in the bassinet of a stroller not a full size bassinet)

It was getting a bit small for her

My baby is 3 months and he’s been doing that since he’s a newborn. He prefers one side of the bassinet and snuggles up to it and put his face against the side of the bassinet.
I’m not switching him yet though until he either becomes uncomfortable or sits/rolls over
