We are super bad at planning vacations and somehow whatever we figure out falls through or just isn’t practical. Pesach chol hamoed trip situation was a disaster and I’m hoping if I try working on it now and you helpful ladies give some insight we’ll have better luck. We re looking to do a two day trip (Wednesday/ Thursday) to someplace within two hours of Lakewood that would have a hotel or air bnb for us to sleep in for a night, a minyan nearby, a place with a sukkah nearby and attractions from kids ages 1-15. Any suggestions of a place and even better links to attractions and accommodations. My kids want to go to Ripleys in Atlantic City but I don’t know if there’s anything else to do there and what the sukkah and food situation would be… Open to all detailed suggestions.
Thank you!

There are usually parks and hotels that are rented out for sukkos with meals and a sukkah. Places like hershey park. Check the papers soon for advertisements.

The last few years there has been ads about a place in Cape May for Chol Hamoed Sukkos, Cape May is not to far from Atlantic City

As amother Valerian says look for ads that should start advertising.

2 hours from Lakewood with a shul and sukkah will limit you. Cherry Hill across the river from Philly is probably your best bet, with attractions including Eastern State Penitentiary, US mint (free), Franklin Institute, Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, Betsy Ross house, Philly Zoo, and Camden Aquarium. The indoor water parks in Mt. Laurel may also be rented out with separate hours.

Baltimore is another great option with more shuls and sukkahs, though a drop farther than 2 hours.

What about Hershey/ Lancaster

There are always sukkas and kosher food in the park chol hamoed and tons of places to stay

In general sukkos I find sukkos hard for overnight trips - we try to be more local and go further away pesach when we can schlep food....

You can also buy a blow up sukka (they are filled with water to make them stable, and then you aren't limited

this place in cape may looks nice.
https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms.....LABLE

You can go to Ripley's on your way down on wednesday, if you want another activity in Atlantic city you can go to the boardwalk - there is a small amusment park like seaside heights or point pleasant style
https://steelpier.com/

Then I would go to sleep in the house in cape may - bring food and disposable grills for a BBQ, set up your pop up sukka

Cereal and milk for breakfast, bought premade salads and sandwiches for lunch for lunch on Thursday
Cape may is beautiful! stunning quiet secluded beaches....

I would start my day with a dolophin watching boat trip,

Then find a beautiful beach to set up the sukkah, spend the time, get stunning pics, and head home

I’m going to bump this again. As I meantimes, arranging trips is not my strong point. Working on this for a while and still didn’t get anywhere. I tried confirming that there will be a sukkah and kosher food in Lancaster but could not get through to anyone. I tried emailing and calling the local place. I really don’t want to schlep a sukkah and food if I don’t have to. Any other ideas of where we could go up to two hours from Lakewood that would work for kids ages 1.5-15 with the option of sleeping somewhere if there’s a nearby sukkah and or food?

Philadelphia is your best bet. There is a Frum community there. Possibly the Philadelphia Yeshiva has a sukka that you can use. Yeshiva is about mile from Bala Cynwyd area which is also Frum. Lots of fun things to do in Philly for all ages. Many of them are free as well such liberty bell, independence hall, us mint very interesting and informative. We just did this trip in the summer and my family had a great time!

Amazing! Thank you! I really appreciate this! Are there any kosher restaurants there? Any other ideas of things to do in the area? And place to stay?

And are there specifically places my 1.5 old can run around? He doesn’t do well sitting in the stroller for long but I also need stuff that the teenagers would find interesting… willing to spend…

There have been a number of really helpful Philadelphia threads in Imamother. I think it would be worth searching.

Have fun!

I would suggest Stamford Connecticut as a base. There is the Armon Hotel, which has kosher food. https://armonstamford.com/rest-in-ambience/. Contact them early to ask about pricing and availability. In Stamford, there is a nature center with a petting zoo and nice grounds to walk around. https://www.stamfordmuseum.org/ In nearby Norwalk (15 minutes away), there is a great Aquarium and Stepping Stone Museum. About 44 minutes away, Yale University has a nature museum https://peabody.yale.edu/and there is Claire's Corner Copia (a great dairy restaurant where you can take out food) https://www.clairescornercopia.com/. Yale should have a sukkah and davening at the Slifka Center. https://slifkacenter.org/ Mystic, is an hour and a half from Stamford and features an Aquarium, Old Mystic Village--a recreation from colonial times, and a submarine, the USS Nautilus. https://thisismystic.com/, https://ussnautilus.org/. The closest shul is in New London, Connecticut
http://www.ahavathchesed.com/ and you can inquire about a sukkah. There is also a Chabad House in New London. Call 860-437-8000 for information. Here is info about groceries: There is a selection of kosher meat (all kinds of fresh chicken, and more) at the New London Shop Rite. Gordon's Yellow Front Wines and Liquors has an excellent selection of Kosher wine, located at 177 Colman St, New London, CT.

There’s also IT- fun indoor ropes course and zip lining.

To op
Philadelphia has Shalom’s pizza
7598 Haverford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19151
Many frum people including my family stayed in a hotel not too far from Philadelphia yeshiva. Called Residence Inn Philadelphia Bala Cynwyd. Beautiful place with lake behind it with a walking bridge too.
Check out visitphilly.com for everything you need regarding attractions. Enjoy!
