there are tons of threads on this but im looking for an up to date one.
Whats your hourly rate?

I work in bk, im an SLP and my rate is 64$ an hour. I just completed my CFY. I wish it was more. especially after seeing how much SEITS get paid!

Any ideas of how I can make some extra money on the side? like evening or sundays?
its a little tricky with aftercare since my baby ends at 4:30 and thats the latest they do in my area

I dont know of any in my area. Also arent sensory gyms for OT and PT?
What do therapists who work in the evening do for childcare?

Does your husband work or learn out of the house in the evening? Because many people that go out in the evening rely on the children's father to take over with the kids, which also saves a lot on childcare expenses. Unless the dad is out, too.

Yes as an ot. It's the best way to make a decent salary and have benefits. Obviously it's easier to work agency and have that flexibility but you pay for that with the lower pay.

This has been discussed before, but it is wrong to justify the agencies' low pay because of the "flexibility." Flexibility doesn't mean that you should be taken advantage of. And most therapists that I know don't use the "flexibility" that often. We actually do more sessions per week than the PS therapists. And it is horrifying how low our paychecks end up, even with all that.

There is ZERO justifications to have zero raises ever, from the day you start till the day you retire (unless you are lucky enough to get a 1 dollar raise per hour if you have connections and really beg). Name me one other profession that has no raises ever. I challenge you.

There is ZERO justification to have no paid time off at all. At the beginning of the school year, we get a calendar with a list of days we are not allowed to work (usually it's Jewish holidays). I always felt that at the minimum we should be paid for those days. Name me one other master's level job that has ZERO paid time off.

The biggest proof is that P'3s/SETTs are currently making significantly more than OT and SLP. And their schooling is easier and less expensive. So clearly there is something wrong with the way therapists are treated.

Re childcare-I only take cases that will come to me. In the evenings, it is after my kids are asleep (although a kid will occasionally pop out of bed).
Sundays, my kids are home with me and DH usually works. I warn parents about that beforehand. They want me anyway because they are desperate because there is a shortage of slp's. I try to put baby for a nap and entertain the older ones with crafts or toys. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

This is all private cases? Parents are paying you out of pocket?
Can I ask how much you charge per session?

Not private. It's RSA's. You bill the DOE directly and get 90 an hour.

Got it. Thanks for replying
How does billing the DOE work? Do you have to create your own LLC to do this?
What about session notes?
