Only Cortland and cook on a low flame, keep mixing until it’s a beautiful deep pink color

You can also add sweet pears to give it a sweeter flavor if you like it sweeter.

My grocer only has Macintosh. Is it comparable or should I go to the market for cortland?

I bought Macintosh apples, can I use it instead of Cortland?

I use the macintosh. I like it better than the cortland

My best compote is a mix of all kinds except green apples. As long as I have a couple of Golden Delicious apples, any apples I use makes a delicious sweet compote.

Courtland.
Cut about 10 apples and place in a 9x13 pan. Add about 1-2 cups water. Cover and bake on 350 for 4 hours. Poke holes in the lid so it doesn't overflow.
