I have a recipe that calls for date syrup, can I use date spread interchangeably?

No. Silan is like a honey. Use that instead.

Thanks. Can I add water to make it a syrup? I want the date taste, not honey.

I would boil some water with sugar and the date spread, whisk and simmer, and use that to substitute.

The syrup is more concentrated in sugar and obviously more like a syrup texture lol.

I don't have amounts bc I've never done it, but I'd start with half the called for amount in spread and half water, plus I tbs of sugar per cup.

I would think the consistency would be off because date spread is solid and so even if you mix it with water it is not the same as a syrup

Of course it depends on the recipe since some recipes would be more forgiving if the texture was off.

Besides honey you can sub maple syrup.

I get you but I honestly can’t notice a real difference between silan and honey in a cooked recipe or a salad dressing. Silan is like an intensely sugared syrup, the date part isn’t really noticeable. Maple syrup will give off a different flavor.

It depends what is the taste and texture you're looking for.
I've used both date spread and honey as a substitute. The honey is a totally different taste. The date spread isn't thee right texture but is the same taste. I guess it depends what you're using it for.
