What's the deal? Is it ok to stick my leftovers into the freezer again? It thawed in the fridge, got heated up and now I want to know if it's ok to freeze again.

When did you thaw it?
Might be technically safe but the quality will definitely degrade

Took it out of the freezer Sunday evening.

It will degrade significantly or just minor taste difference?

I do it and serve for the next few Friday nights.
(Since it’s not a full supper left over)
But I put them into pans and into the freezer right after the meal

Depends which foods.
I find that my roasts do amazing in and out of freezer, warmed up, refrozen etc.
most other foods start losing the quality.

Really depends what
Meat I’m going to re freeze and use for meat pizza
Potato kugel that’s not cut is fine
Mine is cut in pieces so it won’t be so great
I made a recipe with ramen noodles and sautéed onions, peppers and mushrooms- that freezes fine
Broccoli kugel okay - I have 2 different recipes- 1 gets soggy but this one works great in the freezer
My apple kugel too dried out now so I won’t re freeze
My pastrami orzo- no one ate so I’m finished with it
Chicken was reheated so no freezer for that
Rice I’m not sure- probably fine but it’s cheap enough and easy enough to make again or we’ll eat it tomorrow night

I also freeze leftovers immediately. Then I take all the odds and ends and serve it for supper on Chol Hamoed or the Hashana Raba Seuda .
