I'd love to do all the beds every week but it doesn't work out for my cleaning help to do it, so I do it & I hv too many beds to do at once.
So I change linen every week but on a rotation sothat every bed is changed every other week.

I have environmental allergies and need it changed every week. When I have help everyone's is changed weekly. When I don't have help, mine gets changed weekly and everybody else's every other week (I have them help me put the linen back on their beds, so they opt out of the weekly wash).

I noticed the difference immediately from my old machines which were too of the line about ten years ago. The capacity was my #1 factor. We're a family of 8 and we can away with 6 loads per week and that's only bc I sort into that many loads. Iyh you should be able to get a giant machine one day, too.
And to whomever is calling me and others germaphobes, you can shove it lol. Until you live a life of low immunity and severe reactions to common bugs with no options with a full time job and no help, you really have no clue what you're talking about. It's both a physical and mental health necessity. |
Wow. We are a family of 7. I do over 15 loads a week including linens & towels, pretty decent sized front loader.
How do you only do 6?
Do your kids re-wear pajamas & clothes without washing?

Im shocked at some of these posts omg.
I change my sheets weekly myself. Babys crib gets changed once a week too. I grew up the same way. My mother did our beds growing up until she got a cleaning lady.
Cant believe people go longer than 2 weeks. Youre intimate in your bed, you sweat, dead skin cells.....!!!

We go months. Dh and I work full time and there’s a lot of other stuff going on with the kids and health issues. Not a priority for us.

For those who are perfectly comfortable with their current system, by all means…. |
This is why I do it. When you get used to washing your sheet and top pillow case weekly you just can't go back. It just feels so cleaner and fresh.
You get the feeling of fresh linen with less work and energy.

If this all grosses you out, why not change the sheets every morning?
Intimate? Yes, so what? Not everyone has a mess.
Dead skin cells? So what?
Please dont make judgements on other's lives snd practices.

Same. Growing up my linen was washed Erev Pesach, zehu.
I wash mine and DH's before I go to mikva, either the day of or the day before.
Kids linen I wash whenever I get to it or whenever needed. One of my kids' room doubles up as the guest room so that room gets the linen washed more frequently (before and after guests), but the other room, if I'm honest it's about 3-4 times a year.

Yes they rewear PJs. They shower before bed so PJs are worn twice. If they don't shower, just worn once. Uniform skirts are worn twice unless visibly dirty. That's it. Summer is a lot more laundry though with camp clothes, swimwear, and multiple outfit changes daily. Also this figure was other than my washcloth loads (which add 3)
Lemme think:
1 towel load
1 giant load whites gentle cycle (includes all whites like shabbos tablecloth)
1 giant load dark gentle cycle & hang dry
1 load light
I'll ll colors gentle cycle and hang dry
1 giant load regular colors regular cycle
1 load linens (not every week)
Some weeks I do a mid-week regulars wash so they have stuff for Monday and Tuesday in case I don't finish the weekly was by Sunday, or their clothing is still hanging dry on Monday.
