We called it gevikelt kraut
Which is yiddish for wrapped cabbage

I thought it was funny that people called it gefilte kraut but my husband said the world gefilte comes from gefilt- filled up/stuffed. That gefilte also used to be stuffed into the middle of a whole fish.

We eat Mechshe all year, which literally means stuffed in Arabic.
Never go a Shabbos/YT meal without it.
Onion, squash, or eggplant mechshe, or yebrah - which is rolled grape leaves.
I know some people do potato or tomato also, my family never did.
Never cabbage!
