I make a food that my kids call "Russel" with chicken wings. I'm under the assumption that it is a belzer minhag to eat it for lunch on Friday. Does anyone know the source of this minhag? And how is it made?

LOL is this what my in-laws call Russela?
It has sauteed onions, sliced potatoes, and chicken, with salt and paprika. My MIL makes a huge pot then divides it, with the original for Friday night and the rest gets barley and beans added, as cholent.
They're not Belz or Hungarian, they're Yerushalmi with yekke roots. I always wondered where it comes from. Thanks OP!
