Here's the situation: someone made aliyah but stayed only a few months and went back to the US. Has stayed in the US over 10 years.

Do they now need an Israeli passport to travel to Israel or can they go to Israel on their American passport?

I believe he needs to get an Israeli passport. He can apply at an embassy of consulate. Check their website for the procedure.

Israelis need to fly on Israeli passport. They're pretty strict about it.

Thanks, I just saw this on their website!
Also, is a child a citizen if they were born abroad and never been to Israel, and the parents are olim?

I'm almost sure if the mom has an Israeli citizenship the kids automatically become citizens, also when born abroad

Yes, as long as one parent is a citizen- can be father as well, my daughter was an Israeli citizen through her father, before I made Aliyah.
