You can do chicken wings, chicken drumsticks, dark chicken goulash. Sauté an onion with oil at chicken, cubed potatoes, spices. Fill with water so everything is covered by a good 2 inches.

My mother makes chicken choulent every week. It's all the choulent ingredients and then put a few chicken thighs/ legs on the top. The chicken is moist and the skin gets deliciously crispy.

I never knew there's so many ways to spell cholent.
Cholent
Chulent
Choulent
Tsholent
Cool. As many ways to spell it as to cook.
Chicken and potatoes is a typical Pesachdig cholent. It will be great.

I make chicken stew for shabbos all the time.
Chicken on the bone - dark meat only.
Potatos - a lot
Carrots - a lot
onion
mushrooms - a lot
Tomato sauce or marinara sauce
Onion soup mix (we like the flavor)
And the best part - I make matza ball batter and put in the raw matza balls.
Cover with water
By shabbos lunch, it's omg so good and guests are thrilled with matza balls in an unexpected place and they are SO GOOD.

Looks delicious!!
You do it in the crockpot? On low? I’m assuming you put it up right before Shabbos. How much tomato sauce? Maybe I’ll try it for dinner sometime before making it for Shabbos.

Right, crockpot on low, put up right before shabbos. Make the matzs ball batter much earlier though so it can sit in the fridge for a few hours first.
I put a whole jar of marinara sauce.
Making chicken stew like this is especially helpful on a three day YT because Its a whole meal that I can put up on YT itself and it’s a very minimal amount of work.

Nope. It’s a shabbos thing for us…
Although to be honest, it’s delicious as leftovers. I make pasta and serve it together because the sauce on pasta is really good.
On sukkos I made a sweet(ish) onion lukshin kugel and the sauce from the stew was. OMG SO GOOD on the kugel.

Totally! They add nothing to the taste of the stew, it’s the stew that makes them so good! Totally leave it out if you want.
I forgot to add, it’s also very good if you put in some sweet potatoes, cut into large cubes. My family does not like the taste of the sweet potatoes so I leave it out but I like it.

This is not really my area, but I thought the Ashkenazic ruling at least was that for those who are okay with putting up raw cholent right before Shabbos that there had to be meat (beef) as opposed to poultry.
I am happy to see sources, if anyone has.

Thats how I make it Pesach: first sautee onions and garlic, add in cubed chicken and brown, add cubed potatoes, black pepper, salt, and Paprika. let it cook for a bit before generously covering with water and stay in the crockpot overnight till shabbos morning, its delicious, its one of my favorite pesach dishes. I actually make it when its very hot outside since its less heavy and more light, and easy to eat then traditional chulent
