First, thank you Yael for permission to post this!

We have finally managed to get the technicalities in place and are opening an online slack support group for high functioning ASD.

We bring you

Support groups for ASD adults, spouses and parents of ASD children
Advice and understanding from a range of professionals in the field of ASD
A glimpse into the world of ASD with people who live in that world.

You are welcome to join if

You yourself have ASD and would like to share
Your husband has ASD
You have a child with ASD
You have a sibling or parent with ASD.

This is a sensitive topic for many people, please be sensitive in your dealings with other people.

You are welcome to join anonymously.

To join, send an email to hfautismformoms@gmail.com and we will send you the sign up link.

Please pass this info on to anyone who may benefit from it.

Slack is an app which just makes it way easier to keep discussions and threads organized. You can easily download it and it's pretty easy to use.

It can't be on here because this is Yael's site and the support group is not run by her, we'll be bringing in speakers etc and it wouldn't be fair to ask Yael to take charge of it.

I have a 18 year old son with high functioning asd. But don’t live in states. I live in Canada.
Does it pay for me to join?

I feel recently the need for some supports for myself. I have some specific questions that I’d love to have some other moms mull through with me.
Please guide me.
Thx

Btw I already have slack for work.
I’m familiar with it & like it a lot

I want to join so badly, but I'm scared to Crying .

Is it anonymous?

(Am I fooling myself, thinking my son's autism is invisible to everyone around me? It's a pleasant delusion.)

It's international and totally anonymous.
You can open an anonymous email and join with that.

I'm really sorry to say that the group more or less is quiet. You are welcome to resend an email and I'll add you to the group but there has not been a lot of response.

I hear that - interesting because it seems so many people here need to support!
Is there something that can make it into more of active safe space?

Perhaps it would be better to just make a fake Facebook account and join a group there....
