BH I will soon be moving into a freshly renovated and painted house
How do I get rid of all the dust?
Is a one-time cleaning crew enough?
Do I need a cleaning lady full time for 2 weeks?
Air filters?
Roomba?
I have a newborn baby so don't want to move in while dusty but also really desperate to move because we are bursting out of current home
Also I want to move before my mat leave is over

Cleaning ladies full time for two weeks sounds extreme. Have someone clean the whole house once. After that, new dust shouldn't be forming beyond normal household dust that you'll get anywhere.

Hatzlacha with your move! Hope everything goes smoothly.

I would think just going over all surfaces with a dust rag/swiffer right before moving in should be good .

Thanks.
Is this from actual experience? Or just assuming?
Because people have told me in real life that it took months for the dust to settle when they moved in, so looking for practical advice
The house is extremely dusty right now
You can feel it when you breathe

We had a full cleaning crew who specializes in construction clean up. Cost a whole lot and they went over every crevice. Then I washed/wiped everything down again the day before the move (went to check on something and dust had settled again). Then once we moved in, we unpacked as quickly as possible so there wouldn't be piles of boxes. I had people come to clean really well for 3 more days (basically every other day), and then it more or less was ok BH.

One thing I remember hearing is:

Before you move in run the HVAC fan for a few hours then replace the filter, is is suppose to help with the dust.

It takes quite a few weeks. I had a cleaning crew twice a week and still had tons of dust. Then again I also still had work being done for a few weeks after I moved in.
I’d ask the post construction cleaning crew to keep coming once a week until you fell it’s less dusty. And weather permitting try keeping windows open during the day, to allow in fresh air.

A post construction cleaning crew should make it ready to move in. They specialize in getting rid of all the construction dust.
Keep air purifiers running for a few days (make sure you change the filters), and keep windows open as much as possible.

When I moved into my new house, the dust formed for weeks. I hired extra help for a couple hours here and there to do dusting.
We also ran the hvac for some time before moving in and then changed the filters. I had a crawling baby then and he didn't get too dusty.

What about getting the air ducts cleaned?
They use a very powerful vacuum to do that.

In addition to the good ideas above, maybe you could run a roomba every day. My daughter, who moved into an apartment in an older home, reported that running it every day for a week or to improved the air quality.

Mazel tov on your new home!

I've had a rough day and I need a laugh so please forgive me....

wait to move until he can crawl and cover him in microfiber cloths.
