So I’m allowed to use my smart phone? Not sure why I thought a flip phone and pressing minimal buttons was preferable…
Dh doesn’t want to hear about it! He said we’ll deal with it if it happens!!! I need to he prepared yknow!!

You can check with your LOR.
Our Rav said that using a smartphone is derabanan. But we should minimize the melacha as much as possible. In this context, it meant having the address of the hospital typed in already, so we just needed to request the ride.

Called them before shabbos last week, they told me how much the ride would be ($165 from Lakewood to RWJ) and I set aside the cash for them in an envelope. Didn’t end up using them, my baby was born on Sunday. Bshaa Tova!!

My rav said to use Uber because you don't have to be dealing with money on Shabbos.

This. We left the app open on the phone with the address already typed in so we'd just have to unlock the phone and order the ride.
Alas, I did not give birth until Wednesday.

Wow so interesting. My older kids were all pre Uber and we were told to call a car service and have money ready. (I have a sizable gap) I guess I should download Uber and learn how it works for this time around.
