I just sent my 8yo DD to play at a friend's house. How long is the "norm" to let her stay? 3 hours 4?

Check in about 1.5-2 hours to see how it's going and ask the mother.

2 hours maybe two and half. After that I find is generally too long and they start acting silly/loud etc

There's no rule. But checking in every hour or two is good manners.

2.5 hours is perfect at that age. I find longer to be way too much and the kids get sick of each other at that point.

3 or 4 hours is waaay too long for that age

When we have play dates by one and half hours , I’m just about ready to get rid of the play date Smile

Please pick her up by two hours max.

Oh, and please don’t ask the mother how it’s going. Just pick up your daughter. When mothers ask me how it’s going, I often don’t feel comfortable telling the mom ( who I have almost no prior relationship with) that Its getting hard and she should please come pick up her kid.
