Growing up I didn't eat out much and when it comes to tipping, I am clueless.
In nice places, they automatically add a percentage for gratuity, is that considered the tip? Or is it accepted to add more to that?
Thanks!!!
In very fancy places and some less fancy ones that are concerned about tipping, they add 18-20% to the tip, particularly if you have a large table. Except for extraordinary service, that is the tip. If someone went out of their way in a very unusual manner and you want to thank them for that, you can add a little more. It's always a good idea to check the bill carefully in Israel and other places outside the US where it is customary to add service charges and it is known that Americans often miss that fact and tip in excess! No need to be shy. Tipping is often awkward.

Yes if they add the gratuity you don’t add any more, those tips are high enough
