I don't understand this. It's like the people who say a baby doesn't feel pain during a late-term abortion. Does the baby not have nerve endings and therefore can't feel the piercing? The only thing that might be different is that they aren't expecting any pain, and that fear can amplify the perceived pain in older kids, especially for the second ear. But the baby absolutely feels pain.
Now, is the pain significant enough that the result is worth it? You're welcome to think what you want. But don't kid yourself that it's pain free.

I got my daughter's ears pierced at 5 weeks old. She slept through it. Must have been pretty painless, no?

My daughter always looked like a boy when dressed in neutral colors like red, purple or denim.
It took me a while to realize that she can only be dressed in pink!
