I would never inflict pain on a baby for cosmetic purposes "so people shouldn't think she's a boy". How cruel is that? They can choose to get earrings or not when they're old enough, and then the pain is their tradeoff to make.

I don't understand this. It's like the people who say a baby doesn't feel pain during a late-term abortion. Does the baby not have nerve endings and therefore can't feel the piercing? The only thing that might be different is that they aren't expecting any pain, and that fear can amplify the perceived pain in older kids, especially for the second ear. But the baby absolutely feels pain.

Now, is the pain significant enough that the result is worth it? You're welcome to think what you want. But don't kid yourself that it's pain free.

I got at 6 and remember it as really painful..

My sister bought me a cosy, comfy, hooded sweater. She has good taste, and I'm bad at shopping for myself.
I used to wear it tons. Then it got a bleach stain on it Sad

I still wear it most Fridays at home in the winter.

Back to the original question:

A sweatshirt dress I could throw over pajamas to run carpool while on maternity leave.
A freezer full of dinners and lunches that my kids actually eat.
A new swing for baby since my old one was recalled.
Coming over on Sunday (with her kids and new toys ) and taking all the kids outside to the backyard for 3 hours with the invitation To either take a nap or join them, up to me.

definitely a cultural thing. I think babies with earrings look weird.
I got earrings when I was old enough to ask for them. I was 5.
ill get for my daughter when she asks for them.

why inflict pain for something that looks so tacky?
and I never understood earrings on newborns... their ears grow and ive often seen earrings look lopsided bc of the change in ear size...

op maybe a personalized blanket?
