I am looking into relocating to Northern NJ.
We currently live in NYC and my child has an IEP.
Does NJ provide services, too? Is there a difference in the amount of services they approve? Does it matter by town?
My child receives SEIT, speech and OT.
Thanks!

We live in Passaic. I guess that qualifies as north jersey.

The private schools have ISPs, not IEP (s stands for service) They're not supposed to be different but when push comes to shove an IEP is enforceable by law.

Are you looking for a gen ed school or a special Ed school?

Not necessarily, it depends on the classification.

Edited to add: my child is in a gen ed school.

One of my children had a referral to the BOE from EI. After the assorted evals was eligible for OT and PT for nursery and kindergarten. She then turned 5 but was repeating kindergarten, so was permitted to have services again despite no official diagnosis at that point.

(a quick Google pulled up this classification, I believe it's still current:
Preschool Child with a Disability: For children between the ages of three and five who experience developmental delay (33% delay in one area or 25% delay in two or more areas) in one or more of the following areas:

Physical (gross/fine motor; sensory)
Cognitive
Communication
Social/emotional
Adaptive)

There is a requirement for an eligible diagnosis after age 5/entering the grade before first (we call it Pre1A, your mileage may vary).

Note that the BOE is not obligated to classify even with a diagnosis - this is where we encountered the most resistance.
