Yikes- no access to cash for Rebbeim gift

My 9th grader has a Rebbe and a Menahel that have really gone out of their way to take care of him so far this year. They have really kept an eye onhim, given him extra attention, etc.. So I want to give them a nice gift. The issue is that my debit card was recently stolen, and I am waiting for a new one!

So I can't go to the bank machine and take out $100 cash for each Rebbe. My husband is currently on a business trip and won't return until right before shabbos-- so his card doesn't help me so much. (and I feel like it won't look so nice to give them cash gifts after channukah). Should I just give them a visa gift card? I feel like that's fine for a teenager, but weird for a 50 year old man. I don't really like writing checks, because people don't get around to cashing them, etc...

If you have a bank branch nearby you can withdraw cash without a debit card.

Honestly I don't see the big deal in sending it after chanukah if you must.

You can always give it after Chanuka. I’ve done that when money was tight . Believe me the Rebbis were grateful.

You can also ask a friend for cash and transfer them the money digitally

I see what you mean with people not cashing checks. But around chanukah times mechanchim usually receive some checks and will cash them. Especially if they are 50 something it shouldnt be an issue.

I’ve only ever given Rebbeim checks. I never send envelopes of cash. Rebbeim are used to getting checks and depositing them, and the possibility of them losing the check or not getting around to depositing them should not be your worry.

You don’t need your card if you request money from the teller.

Just take along your ID.

Download the info of your debit card for Apple wallet or android on your phone and you can use tap to pay at your banks atm machine
