If I want to roast potatoes/sweet potatoes/carrots, they take a long time to get soft, like 35-45 minutes. The protein like salmon or chicken cutlets takes only 25 minutes to cook.
Do you first put in the potatoes and then add the protein 20 minutes later?
How do you time it so everything cooks evenly?

put the stuff that takes longer first, bake for say 20 minutes, and add chicken for the remaining 20 or whatever

I do chicken on the bone, sweet potatoes cut in rounds and frozen broccoli. Spray oil, spices. 375 for an hour everything together
