Single, newly married, and grandmother are not personality types.

If you can't give a gift based on something they like, then I agree that something generic like was suggested above is fine. Also depends on your budget.

Not sure what inexpensive means for you.
As a teacher I've gotten and appreciated:
A mug
Acrylic pitcher ( not expensive, was from amazing savings)
A cute #1 teacher pen
chocolate bar with with thank you wrapper on it
small pocket siddur
