Dunk (Doonk) is a place that things fall where you can't easily reach them (behind the couch, in a crack, between two car seats) I always wondered if this was Yiddish.

I'm still called by the way I said my name as a toddler. Instead of Esther, I said etter (is also the Dutch word of pus) and it was highly encouraged by my grandfahter and mother who loved when children said things wrongly.
So my mum calls me and says ''Hello Etter''

one of my kids called blueberries, "uh-oh's" for a time, so we still do. I think it was because they'd roll off her table at daycare and the teachers would say "uh oh!"

Also, clementines are "clemens" in my house, also due to a kid calling them that.

Another of my children called her older brother "La-La" when she was little--I mean he has an L in his name but not at the beginning.....so while we don't call him that when we talk to him--since he nipped that in the bud pretty quickly when this started when he was ~4 (and only let his younger sibling say it that way), I still refer to him as LaLa to his siblings: "Go tell LaLa it's time for dinner/kiddush, etc."

My toddler calls teddy bears- tebby dears so now that the new official word

We also say Kalameedich for calm down or chill, its a combo of calm and deech (yiddish word for you)

My husband's friend (a bachur) made it up and we all picked it up. He probably doesn't even remember it anymore but its an often used word in our house!

My newly married son recently said to me, "why didn't you tell me that only our family calls them (the things in your nose) pickles, I thought that's what everyone calls them"
He said his wife found it hilarious.

When we were on vacation many years ago my then 3 year old daughter decided to collect Ants and keep them as pets, for some unknown reason she called them heelyheeties so obviously since then Ants in our house are called heelyheeties.

Puch (hebrew ch) is down feathers in yiddish or hungarian, like a down pillow.

In our family cucumber salad is "vava". Apparently my mother called it like that when she was little for some reason and it stuck. It doesnt even sound funny to me lol.
