What are some possible causes? He was so well trained. Never made in his underwear and now even with incentives he’s having one or two accidents a day. I’m taking him to the doctor later but just wondering what to test for other than uti.

It could be something emotional. A big life change or stress.

If there’s no uti ask for a referral to a pediatric urologist.

Go to a pediatric urologist for full testing they have a process.

Ask your regular doctor to rule out strep.

It can be constipation even if his BMs seem soft and regular. In fact it often is.

It’s possible it’s emotional, we did go through a big life change recently and he was having issues at school but we are settled now and he’s very happy at school. So how would I know if it’s that and how should I address it?

Constipation especially in boys is usually the culprit more often than strep.

I've read X-Ray is the most reliable. Other tests can miss it.

OP this is not to concern you but it might be T1 diabetes.
I'm just putting it out there because I had similar with my 6 yr old and the dr was like its really unlikely but I asked for a finger prick and lo and behold it was diabetes.
(My family has a history of various autoimmune diseases so although its not officially genetic it's something thats always in the back of my mind....)

The ring around his aiver, not sure what it’s called, looks red. Could that be related? Is it a symptom of uti?

I just got a call that his overnight strep test was positive. He has never had strep and doesn’t have any symptoms. I’m just so hopeful and relieved that we got to the bottom of it iyh.
