How do I delete some of the things? If I delete the items on my devices, does that help? I deleted a ton of photos the other day. What else can I do?

It depends.
You can check to see what is using the most storage by checking your device.
It really depends on how you use iCloud in terms of what will be deleted.
However, the easiest solution is to just pay for a larger amount of iCloud storage. I do this because I want everything to be backed up to iCloud. If something happens, you have the backup there.
Also when you buy a new device (computer, iPhone or iPad), you just set it up using your iCloud backup and so you have everything on the new device just like it was on the old.

Photos keeps deleted photos in the Trash folder for 30 days unless you delete them from there manually.
I personally caved and upgraded my storage. Otherwise I'd have to spend hours every few months culling my photos, deleting my WhatsApp messages, etc.

iCloud is the backup. If your phone has enough storage you don’t need to delete unless backup is super important to u. They give you much less iCloud space than you have on your phone. Ignore.

I also pay for backup instead of making myself crazy in a weekly deleting frenzy.

I already pay for some storage. I don’t want to increase it. I deleted the pictures from the deleted files also. If I delete on my devices, will it get deleted in the cloud to free up the space?

I don’t think so. I think you need to delete it from the cloud.

It will, but it takes time for that to sync.
