I've spent time in both BB and FL and Florida is hotter esp in the southern part. Yes, everyone has a/c but just going in and out of the car and driving to the grocery can be tough during the summer (which stretches beyond Aug/Sept).

South FL is hotter than BB? Surprised
I'll keep that in mind once we hit July-August.

Yes. August and September can be insanely hot and humid in S. FL.

I’m Chassidish and I have the same question as OP.

Florida in the summer is not for a chassid, not Levush wise and not for one of who cares about shemuras einayim.

Temperature is a preference, shemuras einayim is a problem only in certain places in Florida. It's, like saying ny is full of pritzes, so don't move to Monticello.

That's why communities being pland are mid to upper not south.
Tampa (I think there is still humid even it's more up)
Glades County

I live in BB too and one of the biggest reasons we want to move is because of the climate. It is really hard to wear chassidish levush in this heat. And yes 60 degrees is HOT for my dh! Waiting for winter to arrive, it's just not coming this year! We put on the A/C this shabbos...

When my husband heard that they are making a chassidish community in Florida he couldn't wrap his brain around it. I totally agree with OP.

I guess the benefits of relocating in FL is much financial.
Don't worry winter will hit this week acc. to forecast.

Let this be a PSA.

Whoever dislikes intense heat should not even think of moving to Florida!

To suggest Canada ( religious school problems, nude public photos, very expensive housing) just for the weather, or Alaska (high cost of living, far from anything, hard to get supplies, dark for months etc) is just What

To what does this refer??

It's legal in Canada to have completely topless female photos on billboards & buses. It's awful.

Are you sure that this is accurate information? I live in Canada and have never seen anything close to this.

In the few times I visited Montreal my heart sank when I saw the billboards.

Huge billboards of naked women laying on the floor.
You can't miss them. And no. You don't see them in NY.

How is it only a problem in some places? Shemuras einayim is not only about bikinis.
NY in the summer is bad too.
Florida is bad all your round.

How is an all Jewish neighborhood far from any beach worse than willi or BP, or even monsey?

I once got stopped in nyc on a hot day and asked if I’m from Alaska. I was wearing a 3/4 sleep thing tshirt and a thin cotton skirt, nude stocking and flats. I thought it was kind of funny and rude at the same time. Like I don’t think I’m much hotter than the ladies wearing tanks and shorts to be honest except the stockings maybe.

Where in Florida is there an all Jewish neighborhood?
Even Williamsburg has plenty of non Jews.

Btw I was in Williamsburg a few weeks ago and I was shocked by the way some (non jews) were dressed. It's not only in the summer in ny either.

Look I’m middle of the road heimish/chassidish. Lots of people are moving to Florida and chassidish are not snub different. There’s a reason why lots of Jews of all types are moving - lots of jobs, red state, good climate, existing Jewish infrastructure. And yes although housing prices have gone up a lot you can still find something cheaper than houses in monsey and with the lower taxes you can have more take home pay.

As for clothing. My husband wears a streimel and bekesha but it’s a once a week garb and it’s just to and from shul and during the seuda (house is hopefully air conditioned). During the week he’s wearing regular weather appropriate clothing.
