Will you be receiving that monthly now or is it a one time thing?
Would you be able to take the check for yourself and still give him cash? If not then the landlord has no choice but to accept it. If you have a legal lease he cannot force you to pay all cash anyway.

Definitely calls for a discussion with him. Rude of him/his wife for ignoring your question if they received it. (I read your op before you deleted). I understand you’re nervous but what choice do you have?
If you have a legal lease he can’t kick you out or raise your rent because of this.

She’s not asking for a free pass.
She’s paying her rent like a good citizen!
She’s asking her landlord to accept a check she gets as assistance. Until now he demanded cash only (which is ridiculous and she didn’t have to agree to this in the first place).
