Wondering what proper etiquette is.
I'm sending out print invitations for my son's bar mitzvah.
Do I need to put postage on return cards?
I feel like lately, I stamp my own return cards when I send back to others' simchos. (Maybe too many people don't return then, so they don't bother?)
I don't want to be cheap and would gladly stamp them.

Don't expect responses if you don't put postage on the return cards. People mean to send the cards back, but if they're waiting to find a stamp, it doesn't end up happening in time.

Thanks! Personally I always have stamps around and try to send things back quickly, but maybe that's not as usual these days, with less and less things going out by regular mail.

YES!!
I inadvertantly forgot to do this and had a few people tell me they were delayed since they need to go out and get stamps.
I think it is also proper etiquette

How about having them rsvp via email? It’s pretty common these days.

I just want to say that more experienced friends advised us against doing an email RSVP - they mentioned that some people will send checks even if they RSVP that they will not attend. If it's an email response they may not bother with it.

Absolutely! I’ve never seen a return envelope not have the postage. No one does that.

It really depends on where you live.
In my community, it is customary to send the rsvp card with every nvitation, and most of the invitees will only attend the chuppa or dance but will not sit down to the meal. I see that many do not send the envelope with the stamp anymore. Some will only stamp those addressed to the people most likely to send them back, mainly family and close friends.
If you only send the rsvp cards to a limited amount of guests which you expect will attend the meal you should stamp them.
