I used a different type of taco spice in my taco meat. Silly me, I didn't put in a bit and taste it first. I just put in my usual amount. Meanwhile, it's too spicy (as in, hot-spicy) for most members of my family as is. What can I do to take out some of the spice?

I don't have any more meat to add to it. I don't know if it matters, but it's the fake Beyond Meat that I used, not real beef.

Dairy will tone the heat down.

Cook it longer with some water, open pot, until the water boils out.

I would add water mix it around and pour it out and then heat it so that it's not too slippery and wet.

Will this work? It seems like just the water will boil out, not the spice...?

I'd love to add dairy, but have someone who is intolerant in the family. Would almond milk do the same thing?

No the protein in the dairy is what cools the spice down. It doesnt work with pareve.

Rinse it off. As someone above said, add water, stir it around, drain off the water, and heat to dry.

Also lots of sour-cream (even if it is the pareve one) and avocado.

Add chopped up potatoes or cooked lentils. They won't remove the heat, but they'll dilute it a lot.

Family members that can eat dairy can add sour cream to tone down the spice.

It worked! The simplest answer is often the most effective Smile

I did boil off some water too. Not sure if that did more. But now it's perfect.

Thank you, everyone, for saving my dinner!
